Siobhan Kennedy – Teacher Profile
Siobhan began practising yoga in1999. Through the practice of yoga she found something that could keep her grounded and was a tool to help alleviate stress.
At that time, Siobhan had a very busy practice in Aromatherapy, Massage, Diet & Nutrition and Reiki healing. While she could see the many powerful benefits of all these therapies – in yoga, she saw a way to teach people to help themselves.
Siobhan completed a two year teacher training course with Yoga Therapy Ireland and went on to do a further one year post graduate course.
She began teaching yoga in 2003. Her basic style of teaching is Hatha Yoga, but over the following years has taken workshops in different styles including Yin Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and Iyenger Yoga. In 2011 she moved to Massachusetts, USA for a year and had the opportunity to attend classes in Kripalu Yoga Center taught by many inspirational teachers such as Shiva Rea and Jurian Hughes. She tends to draw from all these teachings.
Siobhan’s classes are suitable for all levels. Classes are gently paced and students are encouraged to hold poses (asanas) for as long as their own bodies allow them. Emphasis is placed on keeping the breath calm and allowing the body to “undo” itself and let go gradually of unwanted blockages and resistance on many levels. Each class ends with a 10-12 minute guided relaxation or Yoga Nidra (divine yogic sleep!) so that you leave class feeling relaxed, yet rejuvenated!
Siobhan lives in a very busy house, with her husband, her three energetic kids, a dog and 3 cats!
Yoga keeps her sane!!!!
