PLEASE NOTE – Recordings of the Live sessions will be available for a period of one month after the program so those who can not join us live may avail of or review the course sessions at a time of day that suits.

Participants will be required to join each session with video for security reasons.

A copy of text transliteration of The Bhagavad Gita will be required for all participants. We will let you know upon booking which copy Ramaswami recommends if you have not got a copy already.

PLEASE NOTE – It is not necessary to have participated in the previous Bhagavad Gita study sessions in order to take part in this Jnana Yoga of the Bhagavad Gita program. It can be a stand alone course.

However for students who missed the recent Karma Yoga & Bhakti Yoga programs with Sri Ramaswami & would like to study these sections of The Bhagavad Gita under his guidance – it is still possible to have access to the recordings of both to catch up.

Jnana Yoga of the Bhagavatgita

(Chapters 13 to 18)

“The Bhagavad Gita is perhaps the most important text in India. It contains the three important vedic freedom philosophies – Samkhya & different shades of Yoga and Vedanta all rolled into one. It was given to a non philosopher at a poignant time of enormous crisis. These darshanas become more meaningful during crisis time like covid time.

Conventionally the Gita is divided into three sections of six chapters each. The first six chapters form Karma Yoga wherein the importance of doing one’s duties as yagnya or sacrifice and not for fulfilment of mere desires is explored.

The second section consisting of chapters seven to twelve, is termed Bhakti Yoga or Yoga of devotion to the Supreme Lord to attain freedom from samsara. Yoga practitioners may find the parallel in the yoga sutras as Iswara Pranidhana.

The third & final section of The Bhagavad Gita & the subject of this program – explores Jnana Yoga. Through Jnana Yoga or the Yoga of Wisdom – (chapters 13 – 18) – the Lord explains to his disciple Arjuna, the means of understanding the ultimate reality Brahman in its pure naked form – (Brahma Nirvana or nirguna Brahman) – as a means in turn of self realization (“Who am I?”) or Atma Jnana which leads to Moksha or cessation of the repeated cycle of birth and death. It contains the essence of the Upanishads made accessible to layperson like Arjuna and us by the compassionate Lord.

Following his popular online Yoga Sutras of Patanjali program in August & more recently his Karma Yoga & Bhakti Yoga of The Bhagavad Gita programs – Ananta Yoga & Ayurveda, Wicklow, Ireland are delighted & honoured to be hosting a fourth online study course of the Jnana Yoga of The Bhagavad Gita which will be presented by Srivatsa Ramaswami over six days this April.

Sri Srivatsa Ramaswami (81) has studied under the legendary yogi Sri T Krishnamacharya for over 30 years. With a rich learning and teaching experience spanning several decades, he shares his wisdom with a rare combination of simplicity, humour and inspiring presence.

This series of 6 x Zoom sessions over 6 days – will help you experience some of this richness through an in depth study of the Jnana Yoga of The Bhagavad Gita.
