This workshop is for anyone who experiences lower back issues. No experience of Yoga is necessary. Yoga students from novice to long-term practitioners with lower back pain are welcome to attend. The workshop takes students through Yoga practices of body and breath awareness whilst linking appropriate movement to the breath.
The practices are designed to manage pain and promote healthier lower back, sacrum and hips. Creating circulation through appropriate movement brings healing to these areas. The awareness of potential misalignment, asymmetry within our bodies, possible dysfunctional movement patterns and muscular weakness (sometimes too much flexibility) / strength (sometimes too much contraction) will be explored.
And through this, with continued practice, it will improve stability and range of motion to reduce the stress within the body (and mind). The practices are done lying down (supine and prone), on hands and knees, or seated. The sequences, with continued practice at home, can become part of a routine to improve and maintain a healthy body. Practicing yoga students can alternate these sequences with their usual studio or home practice to avoid recurring issues if necessary.
