ABOUT
“The meaning of OM , Mandukya Upanishad.
The mystic syllable OM, Omkara, pranava is the most important vedic mantra, followed by the gayatri and the vyahritis all of which are related to the ultimate reality Brahman. Om the mystic esoteric mantra is venerated and is used extensively in mantra yoga and other rituals, chanting and meditation. Various upanishads explain the mantra in different ways. Of them all the Mandukya upanishad consisting of only twelve verses brings the mantra to the immediacy of one’s own self by relating each aspect of the mystic syllable to each state one goes through all days all through life. Through this approach the unique upanishad brings out the profundity and the immense use of the mantra in self identification.

According to Muktika upanishad, understanding the teachings of Mandukya upanishad is necessary and sufficient to know the philosophy of vedanta. This demystifies the Om mantra and makes it meaningful for those aspiring to attain moksha or complete liberation and eternal freedom. While it is customary to venerate this great mantra, it is equally important to understand the import of pranava. Chanting of the OM as taught by my Guru will also be part of the program.”
