Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from us all at The Ananta Yoga Studios, Wicklow!

Hi everyone and Happy New Year to you all!

I hope that you all had a restful Christmas and are beginning the new year feeling healthy and well.

I am finally getting round to writing my first blog post on the website for 2016!  I cant believe we are already half way through January! I also cant believe that The Ananta Yoga Studios are approaching their sixth birthday!

As many of you are aware –  All our classes have got off to a very busy start this year.  Its been challenging organising our existing students into appropriate class levels at suitable times whilst taking care of the many new students and beginners that have commenced classes with us but I think we are on track now and can settle into a new year of great classes and courses.  I would like to thank all of our regular students for your loyalty & commitment to our classes at The Ananta Yoga Studios  and welcome all the new students that have found their way to us in the past few weeks.  I hope your experience with us will be a positive one of growth, transformation and increased wellness.

We have a very exciting year ahead at The Ananta Yoga Studios with lots of great workshops and trainings already scheduled on our calendar details of which are appearing slowly under Events on our facebook page www.facebook.com/anantayogawicklow   Details of these will also feature as blog posts on the website www.anantayogastudio.com and will appear in our NewsLetter/Email Lists to those who have subscribed. It is very easy to subscribe to our Newsletter and mailing list and is free of charge.  Just log onto the website  (Details above) and on the Home Page under Latest News – enter your email address where you see the “Subscribe to our mailing list” prompt.  We hope in time to have as many of our students as possible using this facility as it will mean less texting when ever their is some news we would like to share! We realise also that many of our students are not using Facebook so we feel the email subscription is the best means of communication all round.  The Newsletter will not be a weekly one but will only be sent when we have news orchanges to tell you about and will always be sent at 11am on Thursdays!  Please read it in case there are any changes or information re weekend workshops or Saturday classes.

This new term sees the continuation of all the regular Yoga, Pilates & Somatic Movement classes and Mindfulness & Meditation courses which have been well attended and growing in popularity with students from all over County Wicklow and beyond over the past 5 years with the great team of instructors we are lucky to have working in the studios. With an increase in demand for Vinyasa Yoga classes I am thrilled to have welcomed Vinyasa Yoga teacher Louise Curran to the team of instructors here.  Louise is nearing the end of a  200 hour Yoga Alliance Certfied Teacher Training Course which has been running in the studios for the past two and  half years and led by David Curtis of Vinyasa Yoga Dublin. She is now – thanks to the extremely high standards set by Dave – very well equipped to begin her teaching career.

Louise has three Vinyasa classes up and running now – details of which can be found on the website schedule.  Louise and 9 other students – several who are regular students in my classes and many of you know – are finishing their training in a final four day immersion over Easter weekend and I am delighted to think/hope that some or all will begin to teach classes at Ananta Wicklow at some stage in the future.  The excellent training that they have taken with David Curtis gives them the same qualification as other 200 hour courses but the big difference between them is the time frame over which this rigorous and challenging training has taken place.  This extra time they have taken to complete their training has meant that they have had plenty of time in between training weekends to digest and integrate all they have learned and use this to cultivate a solid, intelligent and regular personal  home practice.  They are all dedicated and sincere students of yoga first and foremost and it is this quality which will feed their teaching and allow them to develop as confident, well informed and good instructors over time.

There will be individual posts regarding classes, events and maybe some small bits of information of other kinds in the newsletters each time they arrive in your mailbox and I hope that you all find them useful and informative.  Don’t forget also that we always are delighted to hear from you if you have any suggestions as to future classes and events you would like to see on the schedule or if you have any concerns in relation to your classes.  You can email me at anantawicklow@gmail.com

Please can I remind all students that booking really is essential for all of our classes. As we go  forwards into 2016  we are planning structured blocks and weekly class content will be ongoing.  It is for this reason that priority for spaces – especially in my Vinyasa classes will be given to students who commit to the full block of 6/8 classes depending on the length of the block so that we can all move forwards together.  Drop in spaces when available will only be allocated on a text to book, first come first served basis on the day of the class in question.

The doors of the studios will now only be open for students 15 minutes before class starts to allow the instructors time to get set up and ready.  Please observe the studios house rules which are as follows

  1.  All phones to be switched off or placed on silent BEFORE entering the studios.
  2. No shoes may be worn when entering the main studio spaces- please remove at the bottom of the stairs and either leave them there or place in the baskets provided
  3. Please keep noise levels and chat to a minimum when arriving and leaving your class as their may be other classes in progress in the other studio.
  4. Please respect the tranquil nature of the studio environment and understand that many students are there to find stillness and quiet and may not wish to engage in conversation.
  5. Please take water bottles home with you after each class.
  6. Please return borrowed mats and props neatly to their places.
  7. If you arrive more than 5 minutes late for class, please do not enter the studio – call the relevant instructor to arrange to make up your class at another time. While we appreciate that things happen to make students late from time to time which may be out of their control – it is hugely disruptive to both fellow students and the instructors when students arrive late and can upset the flow of the class and the time that many find a valuable and important part in managing the stresses and strains of everyday life.
  8. It is always very much appreciated when possible if students text to let us know that they can not attend their pre-booked class.
